Unlike many of Columbia's residents, Anna is a native. Her father's butcher shop served as a front for the Pilazzo Family, the precursor to the Whitechapel Mob that now runs half the city. After her father was killed during a shootout at his shop, Anna was taken in and raised by Carlito Pilazzo, the mob's boss. She remained with the organization through its hostile takeover by 'Whitechapel' Jack ensuring her place by becoming the mistress of one of Jack's key enforcers, Karl Palance. After Karl nearly kills her in one of his rages, she flees the organization and finds Elise Van Hove and The Black Dahlias, joining them in their crusade against the city's myriad of monsters.
