Character

Mother Christophora

Christophora is a Russian Orthodox nun who began her monastic life as a teenager to escape rampant abuse at the hands of her father. After rescuing her sister Marianne some years later by pleading with her to also take the vows, the two were assigned to one of the city’s many orphanages: St. Irene's. While there, Christophora became increasingly distressed by the very troubled children that were placed in her care. How could those so young have such demons? No longer able to hear the voice of God, Christophora came to believe the widespread decay and corruption of the city have caused Him to turn his back on it. At last, believing she has heard the voice of an angel, who confirms these beliefs, she sets out to turn several of the factions that control the massive metropolis against one another. She sees great potential in Elise Van Hove and her Black Dahlias— taking them under her wing, bringing a sense of organization to their cause, and setting their sights on far bigger targets.
